From "Report By Frank Edwards about UFOs and Official Statements" published July 11

. . . we have the case of a B-36 bomber near Rosalia, Washington, which radioed that it was being circled by a huge disc-shaped object carrying blinking blue lights. The crew of the bomber were watching the thing visually and on their radar. Dated February 6, 1953, their account of the sighting is one of the most detailed reports in the files, but the press wires ignored it and few people knew that it had happened.

On July 7th, 1952, the CAA study says that Captain Bruen of National Airlines radioed that he was being approached by a blue-white light at an altitude of 11,000 feet about 60 miles west of National Airport. "The object," says the CAA report, "came to within two miles of the aircraft and hovered at the same altitude. Pilot switched on all lights, ball of light took off, going up and away."

Daniel Fry Space People Contact Description of Spacecraft includes:

It was, as it had appeared from the air, a spheroid, considerably flattened at the top and bottom so that the vertical dimension was about sixteen feet, while the horizontal diameter was about thirty feet at the widest point, which was about seven feet above the ground . . . The dark blue color which it appeared to have when I had first seen it in the air, was gone now. It was just a polished metal surface, silver color, with what seemed to be a very slight violet iridescence.

This man was a good two inches above my own height of six feet . . . Slender, pointed fingers of his hands . . . a wafer-thin disc on his left wrist . . . pale gold in colour . . . Description of Jack Webber materialization seance incident includes:

At one sitting the illuminated end descended in a circular movement to the mouth of a trumpet standing just in front of the medium. The trumpet rose in the air and moved freely round the sitters; the blue light being seen the whole time at the trumpet's mouth. Finally, the trumpet was returned to the floor and the blue ring of light was seen to rise from the trumpet and return to the solar plexus in an arc-like movement.

Description of California UFO Sighting report includes:

Again Mrs. MacDonald tells of another similar incident. Rickey Anderson, another skywatcher and a decided unbeliever in the "saucer theory," reported a few nights later the appearance of two such ships traversing the desert skies. He described the light streaming from the portholes as a luminous blue-white light. The ships were travelling in an easterly direction and he followed them over the little town of Thousand Palms, California, but like the others they disappeared into the invisible beyond.

Description of C. V. Miller materialization seance incident includes:

I saw with my own eyes little revolving flames, white, blue, and a wonderful light-blue, from which voices spoke to me, giving their full names, and those of friends and relatives; some sank and quickly developed, but others had not yet attained this ability. I saw my nephew Helmuth, who died in Berlin, August 31st, 1898, as a child four years old, float with his fair hair out of the cabinet, calling constantly: "Uncle, do you see me?" I saw him hovering about in the room a long time and then disappearing through the ceiling.

From "Spiritualism, Maurice Barbanell, Spirit Voices and Materialization Mediumship"

This etching by James Tissot was inspired by an 1885 seance and was featured in Clairvoyance and Materialisation (1927) by Gustave Geley. A caption noted that "a double materialisation by the mediumship of Eglinton" was depicted. The light illuminating the visitors was described as "bluish-white." Maureen Puddy's first UFO sighting occurred on July 5, 1972. The 27-year-old woman was coming home from the hospital after visiting her little boy. She noticed that "the road lit up in a blue iridescent glow" and at first thought the light was from the helicopter that had taken her son to the hospital.

The first vague description of a "voice box" is to be found in an out-of-body experience of Stainton Moses. He says: "I did not observe how the sound was made, but I saw in a distant part of the room near the ceiling something like a box round which blue electric light played, and I associate the sound with that."

From "UFOs Mass Sighting Event in Finland 1966"

[American tourist in Finland] "The air was chilly. Everyone was looking up. I peered up in time to see five brilliant flying disks, passing directly overhead.

"I wish I could describe the ghostly appearance of these huge, silent apparitions in the sky. These were great, round objects, each of them maybe 100 feet in diameter, perfectly circular and without any distinguishing features of any kind. They gave off an intense white light with bluish tinges and they passed over us in total silence. . . ."

[American pilot in Finland] "The craft was much larger than my Otter, maybe 100 feet across. Its perfect, flawless round shape would seem to argue that it had to be artificial, constructed by some alien intelligence. It was the color of a gas flame in the upper temperature ranges, this glowing white hue laced with little streaks of blue. This would suggest that it was extremely hot for some reason, perhaps something to do with its energy source. . . ."

Artist James Tissot's Description of What He Observed at a Seance with Medium William Eglinton with Commentary by Gustave Geley from Clairvoyance and Materialisation (London 1927 English Translation Edition of Geley's L'Ectoplasmie et la Clairvoyance 1924)

I add, by way of record, the very curious observation of the painter James Tissot, and his picture from life, of a double materialisation obtained through the mediumship of Eglinton.

"I then saw close to me a human form lit by a bluish light from its breast. The head, draped, seemed quite small, no bigger than an apple. It grew larger, and I saw a woman's face perfectly formed and bending forward looking at me. Yes, it was Katie herself. I could see her chin — smaller than when I used to paint it. I saw the image of her sweet and gentle smile. Yes, it is indeed Katie! I can see her neck through the drapery folded over her breast. Then — nothing.

"My neighbours, on seeing the materialisation of this face, cried out: 'Oh what a sweet face! How pretty!'

"Then she appeared again, more distinctly still. A living person was there before me, her face as if lit by moonlight. Yes, certainly my Katie! But she disappeared before I could note the lighting of the hands.

"After a few moments she returned, and this time I could observe everything. Her two hands joined in front of her seemed to hold luminous ice, lit as by concentrated electricity. The figure disappeared. Was it all over? A light was then seen on the right; the form of a dark man with red lips, a black beard, with white muslin round his head like a turban, and enveloping his body. He holds in his hand a luminous mass, which lights him up. He passed to my left behind me, moved across the room before us, and showed himself to the persons on the right, then vanished into the floor. It is supposed to be 'Ernest,' the medium's guide.

"A few minutes passed in waiting, and conversation languished. Then someone said: 'Two lights near you, Mr. Tissot; two forms. Oh, how beautiful!'

"I turn to my right, placing the hands of my right and left neighbours together in my left hand, so as not to break the chain while I turn to my right. I then see a lovely group, lit by the same bluish-white light as before, but whiter, as if little bits of the moon had been collected into the hands of the beings that appeared. I see the form of the same man of Indian aspect, bringing a young woman — Katie! I exclaim in a low voice: 'How beautiful! More beautiful than I hoped to see. It is indeed Katie!'

"I noted everything — the folds of the clothing and the position of the hands. One of the man's hands approached Katie as if to illuminate her better. The other seemed to encircle her. He seemed to bring her as he would a child or a sister."

In all the preceding observations the lights are more or less connected with materialised organs, or at least with the beginning of materialisations. These are purely biological phenomena, though their origin is metapsychic.

Less frequently, and with some mediums, the biological manifestation takes on the appearance of a physical phenomenon, like Erto's flashes. Or, again, the manifestation may be of a mixed type resembling an electric discharge, while really due to the ectoplasmic process, as would seem to be the case with Frau Silbert.

Dr. Schrenck-Notzing remarks (Materialisations phenomena [1914]):

"On December 15, 1921, we saw a complete phantom appear in the doorway of the bedroom. It projected flashes which lit it up. This was repeated ten times. Dematerialisation could be observed by the same light. The phantom became smaller, diminished, and melted away. Dr. Auer could see from time to time objects behind the phantom through its substance by the light of these flashes.

"During another apparition the flashes came alternately from the phantom and from Mme. S. (medium), from her armpit. The flashes were bright, tending to bluish; they lasted two or three seconds, with intervals of two to five seconds. These lights continued after the phantom had sunk down. Towards the end there was to be seen only a small shapeless image on the floor, near Mme. S., from which some lights still proceeded."

The fact to be borne in mind from all these instances is that the production of lights is one of the most frequent and instructive phenomena in ectoplasmic experiments. . . .

Geley's book also includes testimonials that happen to mention blue lights being observed in relation to "the deathbed of our mother" (account published in Light March 25, 1922 edition); also "in the air" and being seen to "come from Eusapia [Paladino] on to the table" (General Institute of Psychology records of mediumship experiments 1905-07).

Afterword

In the Hindu tradition, earth incarnations of deity—such as Krishna, Rama, Shiva and Kali—and omnipresent Divinity are each often depicted in artistic renditions as having blue skin. Below is an example of online teachings.

Both Lord Rama and Lord Krishna are considered to be human avatars of Vishnu, who was a blue skinned God and hence both Rama and Krishna are considered blue skinned, Meghavarnam Shubhaangam or Kekee Kanthaabhneelam. Since God combines both purity and depth or boundlessness, thus, God too is blue.

The color of Vishnu’s skin is described to be new-cloud-like-blue: The blue color that indicates his all-pervasive nature, blue being the color of the infinite sky as well as the infinite ocean on which he resides.
