Some Moments Involving Conspiracy Journal Editor Timothy Beckley

I've learned that Timothy Green Beckley recently made his transition.  Beckley's name might be known among UFOlogists.  He was one of the startlingly exploitative publishers about UFOlogy, focusing on the monstrous, horrorific and bizarre.  Sensational and superstitious orientations among commercial authors and publishers may be a reason that all of the publications from the early decades of UFOlogy seem to be so often ignored these days.  Nonetheless, Beckley was involved with publishing two revealing books documenting the contactee cases of Truman Bethurum and Arthur Shuttlewood.  An online memorial obituary column about Timothy Green Beckley (1947-2021) offers this remembrance:

He was famously known as Mr. UFO and Mr. Creepo, a pioneer in his field of UFOlogy, the paranormal, and all things bizarre.  He was a publisher, author, editor, and producer with Innerlight Publications, publishing over 200 books.  Previously the editor of UFO Universe magazine and film reviewer for Hustler magazine.  He ran the NY School of Occult Arts and Sciences and worked promotions for the School of Rock and Roll.

On September 27, 2016 I received an Email from "timothy beckley" <mrufo8@hotmail.com>:

Mark: I came across your blog and was very fascinated with what you had posted. I see you have a link to Kevin Goodman's site on Warminster. Well, we just recently reprinted a book we first put out by Arthur Shuttlewood many years ago, UFO Prophecy. In fact, on my way to speak at the House of Lords in UK I met Arthur back in the early 1980s and had a sighting on Cradle Hill. Also reprinted one of the books by Truman Bethurum, but that was ages ago since I have been involved in this since around 1965.

Anyway, I would love to have you as a guest on a show I co host every Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM Pacific.

Exploring the Bizarre is broadcast live over KCORradio.com and archived at Mr UFOs Secret Files which is our YouTube channel. I have provided a link.

I am booking into Oct and Nov currently, though there is a chance I may have a slot this Thursday as I have not heard back from one of my booked guest with his contact information. We usually set up a round table discussion with a couple of people on the program. I know UFO author Preston Dennett will be with us but I may need someone else if my other guest does not check in shortly.

Skype is the best for broadcasting, though I good land line is fine. Our producer Tina posts information on the guests usually the day before the show.

My reaction was to take a look at his shows and there were videos showing an array of topics, such as "ELVIS, THE COUNTRY SINGER, UFOS, MEN IN BLACK . . .," "UFOS AND ALIENS VS WICCA AND BLACK MAGICK . . ." and "50 YEARS OF UFO MADNESS . . ."
.

It was a little ridiculous yet I was interested in discussing his contactee research.  I already knew that Timothy had published the book of considerable value for researchers Messages From The People of the Planet Clarion: The True Experiences of Truman Bethurum (1995).

The book has been mentioned in several blog articles.  (1, 2, 3)  Beckley wrote in the Introduction:

In the following pages we are going to present some of the unpublished material which has not been generally circulated, by and about this most unusual saucer personality.

We cannot help thinking that with the passing of Truman Bethurum we have perhaps lost an important part of the "key" to the entire saucer mystery.

Unfortunately we will probably never know the entire Truman Bethurum story.  We can only hope to put as many pieces of the puzzle together as possible and perhaps someday we will come across the missing ones.

Beckley had also published the only American edition of any book by Arthur Shuttlewood although UFO Prophecy (1978; UK title: Warnings from Flying Friends 1968) appears not to have been widely distributed.  (incl. 1, 2)

There is no comparison in relation to the presentation of source material with these two books and the conglomerations of contents among more recent Beckley publications.

Here is an example of Beckley's metaphysical perspective as expressed in the first pages of Conspiracy Reader Presents Evil Empire of the ETs and the Ultra-Terrestrials (2012)

It's not a universe of sweetness and light out there.

There are definitely a few "death stars" aimed in our direction.

Those investigators and wannabe authors that fancy UFOs and their occupants as being totally and unequivocally benevolent are fooling themselves and leading the public around with blinders on.

Sure, some of the witnesses that have been approached by our "alien friends" are dumbfounded and goo-goo eyed upon being confronted by a six foot tall being with long hair and penetrating eyes who speaks candidly of universal peace and love.  At first it seems like something right out of an Aryan charm school, but this concept has little basis in reality as the mutilations, abductions, painful medical exams, anal probes and extreme mind control patterns continue forward full speed ahead.

'Disinformation' may consist of lies, innuendo/generalizations and/or data where no information source is identified or cited.  In some instances, disinformation consists of acceptable conclusions interspersed with questionable ones in order to promote some specific agenda.  Sadly, some people engaging in a disinformation campaign, propaganda operation or cover-up are not considering their own consciences and have chosen to follow protocols ordained by others who themselves may be functioning irresponsibly.

Beckley has promoted a disturbing hodgepodge of horror and science fiction fantasy in relation to UFOlogy topics.  For a 2016 "50th Anniversary Collectors Edition" of UFO Prophecy, the publisher of Round Trip To Hell In A Flying Saucer: UFO Parasites - Alien Soul Suckers - Invaders From Demonic Realms (2011) selected for the initial 'additional contribution' article a piece expressing a derogatory sentiment about Arthur Shuttlewood.  Considering this, it was while preparing this article about Beckley that I was motivated to write and publish "Quoted Statements of Space People - Case Study Transcript Excerpts".

In September 2016 wanting to learn more about the publication of Beckley's books about contactees and his personal metaphysical perceptions, I responded to Beckley's invitation —

Hi Timothy,

I certainly look forward to speaking with you. As I am employed in addition to blogging, I'll need to adapt my schedule - just let me know what day (except this week). I've listened to you before and have some of your books.

On September 28 he responded:

Thank you Mark.

I am playing with the date of Oct 20th. I offered it to the Spirit Chick and hope she hasnt become the Split Chick as I havent heard back from her. Let me work on that date . ..If not the 20th of Oct than the 27th for certain.

Do me a favor write me up about 250 word bio and jot down some talking points.

What time zone are you in?

Do you have Skype installed (we just use the audio)?

I answered with the following (links updated for this article):

Bio

Mark Russell Bell is the author of Testament (1997), a nonfiction case study presented via verbatim Q&A interview transcripts, journals and photographs.  Since 1995, he has experienced diverse so-called 'paranormal' or 'supernormal' events.  His Metaphysical Articles blog is entitled "Interesting Articles, Links and Other Media."

After researching 'talking poltergeist' cases, the author learned about a contemporary Oklahoma family experiencing the phenomena.  His 1995 interview with the family is featured at the beginning of Testament.  The chronicled sequence of events culminates with the message that for each individual person "becoming Christed is the message of the Era."

Bell was a child when he first experienced several unexplained occurrences.  After majoring in cinema at USC, he worked as a talent agent before becoming staff writer in the publicity department of Paramount Pictures and contributing to the campaigns for more than 100 movies, including some with metaphysical themes.  The films include "Braveheart," "The Butcher’s Wife," "Dead Again," "Fire In The Sky," "The Godfather, Part III," "Forrest Gump," "Ghost," "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," "Leap of Faith," "Scrooged" and the "Star Trek" series.  Bell found his professional background useful in gaining insights about consciousness, creativity and the ego.

Blog article titles include: "Tapping the Force: Leslie Flint Recordings and Links," "The Centrahoma Poltergeist," "'Gef': A Modern Sphinx as an Esoteric Lesson about Oneness," "An Introduction to Healer John of God," "Channeled Reincarnation Scenarios," "The Letters from Aboard a Flying Saucer," "The ITC Letters," "The Mahatma Letters" and "Some Noteworthy Instances of Seance Room Photography."

Time Zone: Pacific (Southern California)

Skype: No; Land Line: Yes

Talking Points:

Please describe how your interest in the paranormal has evolved, leading you from a career in the entertainment industry to becoming an author.

Tell us a little about your first book TESTAMENT.

Provide some of the details about the paranormal phenomena that you, yourself, have witnessed.

What advice would you offer to someone interested in the paranormal?

What would you say offers 'proof' of spirit communication?

What are some nonfiction books about paranormal cases that you think are especially enlightening?

Will you share a memorable anecdote of something 'paranormal' that has happened to you in recent years?

Will you give us an example of interesting synchronicity that you've experienced?

What are some of the main metaphysical lessons you've learned?

What are some of the personal sacrifices you've made to become knowledgeable about metaphysical subjects?

How do you select article topics for your blog?

(You may ask anything you like.)

The next Email from Beckley was received on October 11:

I do have your material here and will get back to you about doing a show. Between doing my own program and being on other shows as a guest its a bit of a choir keeping track of all this in between putting out a couple of books of our own per month.

Hopefully, learning about my predicament may have encouraged some reflection and it is through thinking and meditation that one begins the process for expanding one's consciousness

I recently conducted an online search to learn what commentaries have been shared about his passing and learned about an "Audio Tribute" posted at the "Coast to Coast AM" website at https://www.coasttocoastam.com/article/audio-tribute-to-timothy-green-beckley/.  The radio show broadcast is described as "an interview he did with George Knapp in 2020 on alien portals."  The word 'portals' seems highly vague; however, I can recall some of the descriptions of appearances of 'Captain Aura' as described in the book Beckley published about the Truman Bethurum case.  (article)  There were also descriptions of unexpected encounters in the books by contactees Orfeo Angelucci, Daniel Fry and Arthur Shuttlewood with their respective 'space people' vistitors 'Neptune,' 'Alan' and 'Karne.'  (1, 2, 3)  In Shuttlewood's case, it was his son who had the reunion on the following day.

The Coast to Coast AM website mentions that Knapp has been a weekend host for the program since 2007.  Soon after I began listening to the "Audio Tribute," I began noticing instances of apparent 'EVP' (Electronic Voice Phenomena).  I usually am apt to notice this phenomena when listening to any unedited audio recordings including YouTube videos of TV news and interview segments.  (EVP/ITP Articles Links index page)  There was a strange moment during George Knapp's introduction: "You know, if you spend any time at all reading UFO books or literature or UFO websites you are virtually certain to come across discussions or mentions of 'portals' — a vortex here, a doorway there and the terms are tossed around, you know, as if people understand what the heck they are or why they exist — if they exist.  Tim Beckley decided to go after it, track it down, go to the source or multiple sources, as it turns out.  He and his team, I think, co-writer Sean Casteel and a ([at 1.01]: "CABAL") couple of other contributors have created 'UFOS, Deja Vu, Skinwalkers, Shapeshifters, Alien Portals and Vortexes to Other Dimensions.'"  [Update: the YouTube video is no longer available.]

Beckley mentioned that this was his 13th appearance on the program.  The next apparent EVP instance that I noticed was at 2:46: the word "LIKE" when Beckley mentioned "the '70s" and there are other instances of EVP heard during this 37 minute recording.  Beckley mentioned that George's book (Hunt for the Skinwalker: Science Confronts the Unexplained at a Remote Ranch in Utah 2005) and Jeremy Corbell's movie "kind of gave me the push that I needed to put all of this material together."
The video "Hunt for the Skinwalker" (2018) was directed by Corbell and features George Knapp, Robert Bigelow, Colm Kelleher and others.  This year Corbell has been involved with the release of leaked military UFO footage.

I sometimes consider how one's perspective and orientation to the concept of eternal life and salvation will influence one's actions and activities.  The 'messiah' becomes recognized as oneself with the awareness about the participation in one's life of the Loving omnipresent Christ Spirit ('Messiah'), as was discovered to unfold during my day-to-day life as documented with TESTAMENT.

One of Beckley's publications is Discover God's Magical Word, a new edition of The Magic Word (1950) by W. D. Gann.  Beckley copyrighted his edition of the book in 2017.  Beckley commented in a "Special Prelude" that the author was born in Texas 1878 and became "a 33rd degree Freemason."  Beckley commented: "Gann looked at the universe as if it were a living entity.  Today Mother Earth is often referred to with great respect as Mother Gaia . . . Later in life he adapted his concept of sound and vibration to enhance his knowledge of the stock market where he excelled and became fabulously wealthy . . . The author of this vital work says this unique word was 'probably lost through the fall or disobedience of man' who strayed from God's teachings. . . ."

Here are some excerpts from A Dictionary of Angels including the fallen angels (1967) by Gustav Davidson

Michael ("who is as God")—in Biblical and post-Biblical lore, Michael ranks as the greatest of all angels, whether in Jewish, Christian, or Islamic writings, secular or religious.  He derives originally from the Chaldeans by whom he was worshipped as something of a god.  He is chief of the order of virtues, chief of archangels, prince of the presence, angel of repentance, righteousness, mercy, and sanctification; also ruler of the 4th Heaven, tutelary sar (angelic prince) of Israel . . .

In Jewish lore (Ginzberg, The Legends of the Jews II, 303) "the fire that Moses saw in the burning bush had the appearance of Michael, who had descended from Heaven as the forerunner of the Shekinah."

In mystic and occult writings, Michael has often been equated with the Holy Ghost, the Logos, God, Metatron, etc.  (article)
