You Can Handle the Truth - Having Access to It Is the Question

This image is from the article with this title by Bryce Zabel and Ryan Robbins.

Last Thursday (June 11) after reading the UFOlogy article by Bryce Zabel and Ryan Robbins "We Can Handle the Truth" this blogger contributed the following comment to the "Responses" section following the article:

I’ve long found it surprising how the ‘contactee’ accounts usually go unmentioned in UFOlogy journalism.  For example - the Truman Bethurum case left him with two objects to share with the world as physical proof of his paranormal experiences.  Considering this predicament I recently published "UFOlogy Cases for Metaphysical Realization - Articles Links Index".

Truman Bethurum's evidence of his contact experience is something important to consider because this 'physical proof' demands one to contemplate the meaning.  A major impetus for all the skepticism and denialism that people choose in response to data concerning 'paranormal phenomena' is an apparent motivation to control the information to avoid feelings of fear or anxiety about something unknown.

Later on Thursday when I checked to see if there were any new comments about the "We Can Handle the Truth" article, the message appeared:

The website and article remained available when I visited using a different web browser.  It was found that my comment had been deleted.  This is the Email that this blogger then sent to co-author Bryce Zabel:

This is to let you know that this morning after I made a comment about your article "We Can Handle the Truth" it was removed for some reason at medium.com.  Whatever happened to freedom of speech?  This was my comment:

I’ve long found it surprising how the ‘contactee’ accounts usually go unmentioned in UFOlogy journalism.  For example - the Truman Bethurum case left him with two objects to share with the world as physical proof of his paranormal experiences.  Considering this predicament I recently published "UFOlogy Cases for Metaphysical Realization - Articles Links Index"

At the time when I posted my article, there were five responses to the post.  For comparison, here they are:

Thoroughly enjoyed this well written article and agree with its observations and conclusions. It is high-time we finally learn the truth about who we are and where we actually came from. Disclosure of the ET reality is key to this.

Thank you Bryce and Ryan for all your efforts. The UFO Community, I believe to my core, will bring the world together and usher humanity into a future of limitless possibilities.

I really enjoyed working on this article with my friend Bryce Zabel. I would love to hear what others think about the arguments we made regarding the wisdom to disclose the truth of UFOs in the year 2020.

As someone who has been intensely interested in this subject since my childhood, and seriously since 2004 I applaud your essay; there is much that we know that is not widely discussed, or shared. Bob Dean, Richard Dolan are two good names, also Stephen Bassett who is a permanent fixture in Washington D.C lobbying for disclosure. Lots of politics abound, but I see we have entered the beginning of the end of the 'Truth Embargo' at least.

Disclose! Now

Eh, you lost me at “rutter”.

I sent to co-author Ryan Robbins a similar Email message as the one sent to Zabel.

Regarding such subjects as UFOlogy, contactees and transcendental communication, I'm aware that there may be people whom without any personal knowledge about these subjects may not be motivated to discover what can be learned about them as there isn't perceived any value to do so.  Metaphysical authors and anybody actually may be perceived by someone else based on that person's own 'projection' — attributing to another person some of their own orientations, expectations or even ignorance about some metaphysical aspect of life.

I'd learned about the "We Can Handle the Truth" article at The Anomalist column.  The following day (June 12), the column reported that Bryce Zabel and his wife are involved with producing a new TV series about the Barney and Betty Hill case.  (Some blog articles have mentioned this case and the John G. Fuller 1966 case study book The Interrupted Journey. 1, 2, 3, 4 This new article was published at the entertainment news website Deadline originally founded by Nikki Finke as Deadline Hollywood in 2006.  I posted a response to the article with the intention of seeing if my comment would be allowed or not.

Every living person is involved in transcendental experiences and these encompass the dream state.  I’ve long found it surprising how ‘contactee’ accounts usually go unmentioned in UFOlogy journalism.  For example - the Truman Bethurum case left him with two objects to share with the world as physical proof of his paranormal experiences.  Other extensively documented cases include Orfeo Angelucci, Daniel Fry and Arthur Shuttlewood.  It seems strange that no movies have ever been made about these fascinating cases.  I recently published a noncommercial "UFOlogy Cases for Metaphysical Realization - Articles Links Index" online for anyone interested.

There was one previous comment from 'Anonymous' stating: "What a con job."  After clicking on the "Post Comment" tab, my comment didn't appear.  I wondered if perhaps comments must be approved by an editor before appearing and decided to check back later.  It soon became evident that my comment to this article also would never be posted.

The last time that I commented on a news website article was on May 12 with the Silva Record article "Is Government Spokesperson Gough Thwarting UFO FOIAs?"  The subject was again the lack of attention given to contactee cases in the news media.  On Friday (June 12), I checked and was surprised to see that at this news website also my comment wasn't posted.

Having accepted a "notify me" option about new comments and articles when I'd contributed my response, I'd learned on June 11 that a new UFOlogy article had been published in the Silva Record so I decided to again contribute a simple comment to see what would happen:

UFOlogy continuously considered in relation to military orientations can be frustrating for readers interested in metaphysical contexts.

That's all I posted.  I gave my name and Email address.  A space allows you to identify a website yet this time I left this option blank.  Again accepting the "notify me of follow-up comments by email" and "notify me of new articles," I posted the article at 12:16pm and the message was given: "Your comment is awaiting moderation."

When my message failed to appear, I decided to take a new course of action and find a prominent UFOlogy journalist who might be willing to help inform the public about the contactees data.

Anyone who thinks there is something to be gained by suppressing the information I shared apparently are only considering their immediate agendas (whatever this is) without considering how exclusionary they're being.

Then on Friday at 7:21pm a message was delivered from Bryce Zabel.  He wrote:

Hey, Mark... that doesn't really sound like a comment that discusses the content of what was in the article to me. Instead it sounds like you're pushing your own article for people to read but not responding to the original content. At least that's how it hits me. Freedom of press means you have the right to say what you want. It doesn't mean that I have to leave the comment on my own story if I don't feel it's responsive to the content. Try leaving a comment that discusses the content of the article, and I will definitely leave it up.

I responded:

Dear Bryce,

I'm sorry that you feel the way you do. What you read was in fact my knowledgeable response after reading your article and considering the content.  Obviously, I've had access to different facts than you have and that was the reason for the commentary shared.  Of course you aren't aware of my work and unique experiences in life or perhaps your reaction would be different.  It's easy for me to recognize and appreciate how blessed I've been yet sometimes it's difficult or even inconceivable for others to understand my situation.  Altogether there are more than 500 nonfiction metaphysical articles available for reading at my noncommercial blog.  Perhaps you should take a look and see what interests you.  Such responses as yours are constructive for me to consider and share as I can imagine that my consistent blog readers may not yet have any idea what my life is like on a day-to-day basis now.  One of the unfortunate aspects of the world today is that so may people don't understand that reading still is the best way to be introduced to unfamiliar yet consciousness-expanding data that is readily available without any expense.  I can't alter my response to your article as there is no other worthwhile response for me to offer, considering my experiences in life and what I know.

One perspective in the "We Can Handle the Truth" article expresses: "Both the governments of the world and the Others who are visiting us seem to have agreed over the years on only one thing — that the entire matter should be kept secret."  This isn't a supportable conclusion when one considers the diverse cases of documented transcendental communication.  Many of these cases are conveniently profiled for readers of my blog.  I agree with the authors' statement: "We can only be responsible for our own actions."  Each article co-author must decide for himself If it is worthwhile to consider investigating the information that I attempted to share.

The following is part of the response from the channeled entity 'Emmanuel' through Pat Rodegast to the question "Who are our nearest neighbors in the universe and what will be our first contact?" from Emmanuel's Book (1985):

We are, and the contact has already been made.
Oh, I know you are speaking of extraterrestrial beings.
Contact has already been made regardless
of how you translate extraterrestrial.

7/12/2020 Update: Last week a post contributed by this blogger to a forum written with Reddit readers in mind was removed by moderators at that website, showing once again how freedom of speech online sometimes seems irrelevant in 2020 here in the United States.  The perspective expressed in the post was a simplified version of some contemplation points in previous articles at this blog about metaphysical aspects of popular culture and a book by Catherine ClĂ©ment.  Also, the popular website Wikipedia for many years has repeatedly been noticed by myself as being an inadequate source of information about metaphysical and paranormal subjects due to anonymous revisions made by editors expressing blatantly denialist motivations.

10/30/2020 Update: I made the same comment seen at the beginning of this article in response to an openminds.tv website article and the comment was published.
