Here in Los Angeles everyone is still living under the 'Safer at Home' emergency orders. Anyone with a positive COVID-19 result must self-quarantine. On Thursday my CARES Act stimulus payment arrived and I thought about how these circumstances were suggested during dreams upon recalling my recent attention given to dream analysis. One consequence of the pandemic is that some prisoners have been released, including channeler/spiritual healing facilitator John of God (Joao de Deus) in Brazil.
I've been so blessed in my research of channeling, including having been able to attend in person a session of Kevin Ryerson in 1998 and then one of JZ Knight in 2006. During my path of spiritual discovery chronicled in recent blog articles, after witnessing many extraordinary occurrences I decided to study other transcendental communication cases among all aspects of ‘paranormal phenomena’ to learn more about the human predicament.
In late March, Brazilian media reported that Joao—who for many decades served as a spiritual healer and has devoted himself to educating people about this aspect of life—was sent home from prison to serve his sentence under house arrest with stipulations that included him wearing an anklet and being prohibited from visiting his hospital. The judge authorized this in order for him to avoid coronavirus contagion. During the period when he was incarcerated and I searched news reports for his response to the accusations brought against him, some articles reported that a court secrecy order was involved. All that I've ever seen reported about Joao's response to the accusations is that he has steadfastly denied all of the complaints — something easily understood by close constituents, as exemplified with a video made by one of his biographers. There has always been readily available in books and video footage ample evidence of Joao's authentic facilitation of spiritual healing through 'channeling.'
Many Facebook supporters happily greeted the news of his release with one of them expressing that he had been "wrongly imprisoned because of the satanic mainstream media." Media outlets who exploited all the sensational and nonsensical claims made about Joao obviously knew little about the subject of their reports. The
first English language biography about John of God presented the facts
of past court proceedings against him that evidently were motivated by
selfish and spiritually ignorant assumed imperatives. Robert Pellegrino-Estrich wrote in The Miracle Man: The Life Story of Joao de Deus (2001):
Despite his amazing contribution to mankind in the alleviation of suffering, he is still pursued by the authorities, spurred along by disgruntled factions; those medical doctors who fail to understand the source of his healing and surgical ability calling on support of their medical associations to take action, and the church whose clergy fear a weakening of their position within the community and fail to recognize the same spiritual source that is the very core of their doctrines.
In his book The Phenomenon of Abadiania, Supreme Court Judge Jose Liberato Costa Povoa argues strongly for the law to be intelligent about its interpretation, pointing out that several court cases had set a precedence which should be considered, particularly in their recognition that acts performed by incorporated entities [while the medium healer is in a trance] were not crimes. He quotes from the case Tribunal de Alcada Criminal de Sao Paulo in which the eminent Judge Azevedo Junior states "In the exercise of quackery the presence of fraud is presupposed, which cannot happen to the mediumized individual. This last, in a state of trance, finds himself unconscious and therefore may not be held responsible for actions undertaken in his absence by the spirits incorporated in him."
Among the 'channeled entities' who offer testimonials about the ascended realm of existence are Ray Brown's 'Paul' and Kevin Ryerson's 'John' who offer testimonials to each having been a disciple of biblical Jesus during their Earth lives. As with the John of God case chronology, video recordings are available that present evidence of Paul's facilitation of spiritual healing. Previous articles about Kevin Ryerson and Ray Brown case chronologies include "Trance Healer Autobiography: A Mere Grain of Sand", "Raymond's Other Guides" and "Transcendental Perspectives of Christ and Jesus".
It was 'Seth' channeled through Jane Roberts who is quoted concerning John and Paul in Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul (1972) during a session on July 24, 1971:
John and the historical Christ each performed their roles and were satisfied that they had done so. Paul alone was left at the end unsatisfied, and so it is about his personality that the future Christ will form.
The entity of which these personalities are part, that entity which you may call the Christ entity, was aware of these issues. The earthly personalities were not aware of them, although in periods of trance and exaltation much were made known to them.
Paul also represented the militant nature of man, that had to be taken into consideration in line with man's development at the time. That militant quality in man will completely change its nature, and be dispensed with as you know it, when the next Christ personality emerges. It is therefore appropriate that Paul be present.
In the next century, the inner nature of man, with these developments, will free itself from many constraints that have bound it. A new era will indeed begin — not, now, a heaven on earth, but a far more sane and just world, in which man is far more aware of his relationship with his planet and of his freedom within time. The most recent mainstream media article about a channeler that I've read is a New York Times article entitled "Inside the Fringe Japanese Religion That Claims It Can Cure COVID-19" about Ryuho Okawa's Happy Science group. It seems that many journalists today approach the subject of channeling with the perspective that it cannot be legitimate instead of considering 'how can this be true?' To dismiss the large quantity of channeled material published by Ryuho as 'nonsense' is to refrain from considering how then the author could find value in the instruction in the first place. Ryuho recounted in Messages from Heaven (2015) that as he began publishing books of spiritual messages he was also studying the opinions of the spirits:
The manifesting personalities representing the ascended realm of existence offer instruction about metaphysical aspects of life. A channeler's spiritual understanding is usually expressed according to his or her individual interpretation of what is articulated. As mentioned in previous articles at this blog — Contemporary channeler Paul Selig on one occasion has orated the instruction, ". . . the manifestation of a miracle is in fact the action of the Creator in combination with the human energy field, with support from the guides and with higher systems." Direct voice medium Leslie Flint's guide 'Mickey' can be heard instructing in one audio recording of a seance: ". . . you have certain guides or controls — or people who have a certain specific work to do who really are acting under the agency of higher souls."
All their opinions contained some truth, but some also had unique and odd ideas. I was surprised to find that even among the spirits, opinions differ.
. . . I decided to publish the spiritual messages first, to prove the existence of the spirit world, and to introduce my own thoughts and philosophy later on.
At work, I was surrounded by people who denied that such a thing was possible, so I had no one to talk to about what I was doing. But my parents gave me full support, which provided me with a certain sense of stability when I began my mission.
When I receive and convey messages from spirits, I let the spirits speak through me, but at the same time, I listen to their opinions and evaluate them as a spirit judge. I'm responsible for ascertaining which god or spirit is speaking, interpreting the message I'm receiving, and passing judgment on the contents of the message. (article)

Last month when I wrote the article about recent channeling sessions of Julia Greef and Jach Pursel, when Lazaris speaking through Jach mentioned "the great work" I recalled having heard that expression used by Ramtha speaking through J Z Knight. Conducting a search about this phrase, I discovered that one Ramtha lecture available as a CD is entitled "The Great Work: From the Caterpillar to the Butterfly." I purchased a copy that soon arrived in the mail.
As previously mentioned -- My introduction to Ramtha channeled by JZ Knight was the short book published in 1996 The Mystery of Love (available to be read without charge in a PDF edition). After reading The Mystery of Love, one will have some understanding about what is meant by Ramtha identifying himself as 'the enlightened one.' I have seen most of the readily available videos of Ramtha discourses on YouTube and recently short sequences have been being featured at the Ramtha website.
When I attended the 2006 channeling session of Ramtha through JZ, I later noticed something ironic about an information brochure about Ramtha. One the front was the phrase "Become a Remarkable Life." Becoming a metaphysical author and adding the name 'Bell' to my name as had been a transcendental instruction relayed to me by a friend, I'd become 'Mark Bell' and was definitely leading a remarkable life while "making known the unknown" (a Ramtha philosophical cornerstone). Since the summer of 1995, I've made my priority and given all that I can to supporting my task of informing others about my unusual spiritual awakening and metaphysical initiation. Ramtha has also professed himself to be an "enigma."
Turning my attention to this new Ramtha lecture CD, I noticed that the lecture was dated March 25, 2006 and was given in New York City so it predated by only a few months the lecture that I attended the same year. I noticed that the two discs comprising the lecture were listed in 13 segments with one of them entitled "Apollonius of Tyana." In the first book of a two-volume anthology of transcripts of Ramtha lectures A Master’s Reflection on the History of Humanity Part 1 (2001) the statement is found about Apollonius:
Every master, including Apollonius of Tyana — who did it in the court of Cicero, to the senate, and to Caesar himself in front of the whole senate of Rome — dropped his chains and disappeared. It is recorded in their logs. They don't know what happened to him. He realized he created the entire illusion. It was a dream. And if he did it, then it was he who could drop the chains. That is why he is a Christ.
At the Ramtha lecture that I attended in Hollywood, Ramtha had said:
Yeshua ben Joseph had a twin. His name was Thomas. To those of us, that is well-known. That he was trained — that his soul was comprised of thirteen masters is also known. And that those thirteen masters contributed as thirteen teachers taught to their greatest accomplishment and taught them and then engaged them, as hierophants do, to make them live the teaching they were taught . . .
Preparing to listen to "The Great Work: From the Caterpillar to the Butterfly," I made myself comfortable by resting my legs on the bed near my computer workplace in my bedroom. Disc 1 begin with Ramtha's opening toast and then began the introductory remarks with sentiments already acquainted to me. The occasional audience laughter doesn't reflect my frame of mind while listening. The effect on the ambiance in the room was such that this probably explains those sudden wry twists punctuating the discourse heard recorded on the CDs.
I am Ramtha the enlightened one, lord of the wind, servant unto God, teacher unto masters . . .
. . . your brain is the mechanism to which you inhabit. I am inhabiting this brain . . .
Truth happens when the philosophy is made manifest in mind and mind be that which is termed an environment. The very thing that we're going to make happen to you. And when you experience that thing — that person, that marvelous experience, you will experience with the wholeness of your own brain, indeed your own perception, indeed your own touch, smell and wonder. And thus in your experience it will have happened to you.
So to make it unforgettable and that what you hear becomes your experience I will make it manifest for you.
. . . the drama is the playing out of the knowledge we learn this day.
So we redefine God that God is the lowly human in that God is not a man but God is a woman too. And God is everything in-between.
There was heard a mention of "twelve years before your ice sheet is melted away." This is an example of Ramtha's frequent "I will manifest all your fears" philosophizing. Ramtha was quoted speaking about manifesting fears in one of the first books about the case Voyage to the New World (1985), a book researched and edited by Douglas James Mahr: "I will manifest all your fears for you — everything! . . . I will manifest all your fears, all of your unworthiness, all of your lackings, all of your insecurities about you in this your year to come — everything. Now, my master, you will think it's funny when we have gotten through all of them for then you will have seen how unmeaningful they have been in your life. We shall do it straightaway." On another day, Ramtha repeated the declaration after saying the following: "You have lived, Entity, 13, 342 and one-half times. You have been every race of peoples existing from this universe to the twenty-third to the seventeenth to the one hundredth universe. You have brothers, Entity, in your Pleiades, a most divine constellation . . . I will manifest all of your fears to you, Entity, to the brink of death, and you will come back to this place and live for the reason you're supposed to be here — to live."
Over the years Ramtha has occasionally included the threat of viruses and bacteria among his extensive recitations of manifesting human fears. Considering the totality of possibilities expressed, some of the warnings may not come to pass depending on the actions of humanity (rather than inaction). Another precept for understanding Ramtha's philosophies is that of "verbiage contradiction" whereby different statements about anything can all be true based upon context and interpretation. An indication that this is a key to understanding the scope of Ramtha discourses is the entity's penchant for sometimes referring to himself as "outrageous." A 2014 Ramtha discourse oration anthology is UFOs and the Nature of Reality: Preparing for Contact, a revised and expanded edition of a 1991 book.
As I continued listening to "The Great Work: From the Caterpillar to the Butterfly" CD, Ramtha said about 'the Great Work': "What you experience and what you see does matter. That is the message."
I was a bit taken back when Ramtha mentioned "Where your feet are propped is your mind . . . The Work is to fill this organism with knowledge and begin to take it concept at a time and manifest it into the world and then experience it . . . And when we open your mind your field will grow."
After putting on the second CD the word 'quarantined' caught my attention: ". . . that singular beginning of the infolding of the void made you — everyone of you . . . This is but a story of one that explains the everyone of you. That was your story. That's from whence you have come. So the occupation on this level has stayed so long and you have been quarantined out here in the Milky Way because you are still locked into your emotions . . ."
Am I personally still that way, I ask myself. What are emotions anyway and what causes them to originate? I've noticed that once in a while I'll be objectively reflecting about some spiritual or metaphysical aspect of life or God and some intense feeling of either joy, excitement or sadness will come over me.
Then Ramtha began speaking about the art of awakening. Diverse ideas were rapidly being expressed that reminded me of the many Ramtha transcript book anthologies I've read over the years. "You have never been alive until you have marshaled a dream out of the brain into matter and experienced it. And then you will want more of that. That alive feeling is the signature hallmark of a person who has found God in them. The Creative Principle . . . So it is not that you will become some unfeeling zombie. You're sort of that right now because you've never been alive. You're about to come alive. You'll know the difference . . . Remember this world is existing in 11 dimensions and that its potentials exist all the time. And that people who are living forward are living in this room forward. So you will quickly change."
When the section of the CD entitled "Apollonius of Tyana" began, I recalled having read other historical stories from Ramtha discourse transcripts included in books. The background for this historical figure included: ". . . he learned to be absolutely present with his mind." The outcome to this story came with the pronouncement:
This man became renowned because he was seen disappearing from one place and appearing in other places. 'Rarely do we ever meet him on the path because he would bleep in and bleep out.' And his following and his fame became fabulous. In fact, Yeshua ben Joseph was asked by one of his followers, "Master, there is another teacher who does these wonderful things." And the master said, "It is the Christ in him that is doing it."
An ascension scenario followed with Ramtha specifying that "the way of the Christ" is "the mastery of emotions."
At the conclusion of the discourse, Ramtha said:
We never would ask a butterfly, "So are you ready to return to being a caterpillar?" We would never ask that. Nor would we ever assume the death of the butterfly because in their mind they'll always fly. And so will you. Now — sweet. In the midst of chaos out there. Sweet. Beautiful. I want you to know you are loved. And your God loves you. And that you are the apple of Its Eye. Your life. Your beingness. . . .
Some of the other channeling cases I've learned about include Rubens Faria/'Dr. Fritz,' Thomas Jacobson/'Dr. Peebles,' Paulina Peavy/'universal beings,' Mark Probert/'The Inner Circle,' and Phyllis V. Schlemmer/'The Nine.' The cases are listed at a Channeling Cases Articles and Videos Links Index.
The limited orientation to 'channeling' among mainstream media is exemplified in some headlines of the last few days: "Why Caleb Landry Jones Is Channeling John Lennon In Marie Antoinette Drag on His Musical Debut" (Billboard), "Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, channeling his late father, says media giant is 'prepared for anything'" (The Business Journals) and "Channeling Astronaut Mark Watney: Effective Leadership In The Age Of 'What Else Could Possibly Go Wrong?'" (Forbes).
