As I mentioned in the first post in 2009, this blog was created "to help readers find noteworthy sources of information concerning metaphysical and spiritual topics . . ." Listed below are ten of the nonfiction books that have been information sources for this blog (with article links following the titles) to provide examples of the diverse subjects selected with the goal of helping readers to expand their metaphysical knowledge:
Flashes of Light from The Spirit-Land through the Mediumship of Mrs. J. H. Conant (1872) compiled by Allen Putnam (article)
Glimpses of the Next State (1911) by Vice-Admiral William Usborne Moore (articles include 1, 2, 3, 4)
The Image of an Oracle: A Report on Research into the Mediumship of Eileen J. Garrett (1964) by Ira Progoff (articles 1, 2, 3)
The Magic Bag (first printed in 1949, expanded and revised in future editions with a Part 2 published in 1952) by Mark Probert (article)
My Search for the Ghost of Flight 401 (1978) by Elizabeth Fuller (article)
People From The Other World (1875)by Henry S. Olcott (articles 1, 2)
Phenomena of Materialisation (1920) by Baron Albert Von Schrenck Notzing (articles 1, 2, 3)
To Dance with Angels (1990) by Don & Linda Pendleton (articles 1, 2, 3, 4)
A True & Faithful Relation of What passed for many Yeers Between Dr. John Dee (A Mathematician of Great Fame in Q. Eliz. And King James Their Reignes) and Some Spirits: Tending (had it Suceeded) To a General Alteration of most STATES and KINGDOMS in the World (1659) by John Dee (articles including 1, 2)
Unwelcomed (2015) by Deborah Moffitt (articles including 1, 2, 3, 4)
This blogger has two statements to make about many of those unsubstantiated, ostensibly metaphysical-themed videos that one is confronted with at YouTube, often sensationalistic in vague ways while referencing unidentified data sources (and now also with commercials proliferating):
1. Never have I heard so much said about so little.
2. Those who don't know will seldom if ever be able to fool anyone who actually does know through any dissemination of unsupportable disinformation.
The glib YouTube videos should at least offer definitions when using peculiar terms or bringing new connotations to those terms. Nonetheless, there are substantive informative videos that may eventually be found for one willing to do the investigating — as is this blogger. Seeing is believing for those properly prepared. And yes, the 'truth' can often be stranger than fiction.
The video below is an example of how accessible is some evidence for channeling: "The Healing Ministry of John of God, Joao de Deus." This ten-minute video about the Brazilian trance healer was uploaded to YouTube in 2008 and includes footage of "Joao's body lurching as the spirits enter it" at 1:00.
Another phenomenal Brazilian trance healer of an earlier time is Edson Queiroz, who is the subject of a short video in English about the case (see below). I noticed among the viewer comments are a couple responses from people who've obviously had no preparation for comprehending the reality of the phenomena seen in the video (and correlating with procedures seen in many other Brazilian trance healer cases).
An example of a television documentary about spiritual healing when directors have an open mind instead of being motivated by assumed imperatives mandating an impugning perspective is "Healing States", a 12-part series produced in 1986 with the publication of a companion book by Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. and Stanley Krippner, Ph.D. A 41-minute "trailer" is presented below. There are film clips that show such events as Luis Gasparetto creating new masterpieces in the precise style of famous painters from the past, a Umbanda trance healing session, a spiritual healer working as a facilitator of 'cosmic energy,' Edson Queiroz serving as a medium for psychic surgery (with graphic operation footage), and patients of Dr. Eliezer Mendes engaging in trance techniques with testimonials that this has helped to control a boy's epileptic convulsions.
A 1999 "48 Hours" segment about energy healer Gene Egidio provides a report about energetic aspects of spiritual healing.
A 1996 television show demonstration of spiritual healing with Matthew Manning provides another example of how people can facilitate healing.
The diverse manifestations of spiritual healing encompass what is seen in a 1974 video taped in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 'miracles services' of Kathryn Kuhlman challenged her to find words to express her predicament. She wrote in a 1969 book: "No one knows better than I that in myself I am nothing . . . I am just as amazed and thrilled as anyone else when the service begins and God works His wonders in the midst of us all."
The videos from England below are two introductions to trance healer Ray Brown. The second video released in 2011 offers some excerpts of lectures by 'Paul' while in control of his channeler's body. The topics are channeling and other metaphysical aspects of life. These moments are followed by some interview clips of Ray speaking and then some clips of Paul being heard again. One can only hope that entire videos of events such as this will soon become available online for the enlightenment of all seekers of truth.
It is helpful for one's mental and emotional health to learn about life on 'the other side," where we will all find ourselves after the conclusion of this fleeting Earth life. Below is a video of a tape recording of the Direct Voice communicators 'Mickey' and 'Douglas Conacher' speaking about life in the ascended realm. Leslie Flint was the medium during this 1967 seance that was recorded on audio tape. This is one of the supernormal cases where a large collection of documentation (audio recordings) are available online. (article)
