Some of the truths suggested by this Aaron Smith article remind the reader of the scope of the world financial crisis.  Another article about these circumstances was published in The Washington Post where "A Historic Success In Military Recruiting" by Ann Scott Tyson mentioned a "$5 billion recruiting budget."

A person may hope to have a spiritually rewarding career; however, a person without resources or an income has limited choices.  These articles lead one to ponder the transitory nature of society and of identity for human beings whose economic predicament leads them to relinquish their hopes and dreams.
